Ladies and Gentlemen! Please turn your attention to center stage, as the highlight of the season is about to begin! Through 15 grueling weeks, 12 teams have fought, struggled, and found a way to push even harder, but all of them ultimately failed - all but two. That's right - the AldenLeague Fantasy Bowl X is upon us, as the L.A. Ninjas take on Most Murderous in the final battle of them all! Let's take a look at the preview: #2 L.A. Ninjas (9-5) vs. #5 Most Murderous (9-6) Team Profile: L.A. Ninjas Mike Hartman takes his team to their first-ever Fantasy Bowl, in an effort to become the first pair of brothers to win the championship (brother Justin's Boys of Summer won the 2006 Fantasy Bowl). The Ninjas completed the regular season with not only the Westwood Division crown, but also the Most Points total. They've been led by QBs Tony Romo and Brett Favre, the 8th- and 9th- highest scoring players in AldenLeague, respectively, the highest of any players in the Fanta...

Semi-Finals

What happened last week: The reign is over! A new streak has begun! Two-time defending AldenLeague Champions CheektoWojo were upset by 6th-seeded The Skyns, who scored their first post-season win in 6 tries throughout AldenLeague history. In the other matchup, Most Murderous, after dropping their final 6 games of the regular season, rebounded to overcome the BountyHunters in their maiden trip to the AldenLeague Playoffs. That brings us down to the final four, which are dominated by the presence of 3 teams from the Crittenden Division. Let's let 'er rip on the message board while you're still alive! Matchup #1 - "Round Three" #1 Ice Cold Bruschis (9-4) vs. #5 Most Murderous (8-6) A bitter divisional rivalry got split during the regular season, as words were exchanged on numerous occasions. It's time to see who's got the cajones to back them up when it really counts. Team Profile: Ice Cold Bruschis 2008 was a learning experience for a franchise in their...

Wild Card Weekend!

Matchup 1 #3 CheektoWojo (8-5) vs. #6 The Skyns (7-6) Team Profile: CheektoWojo The two-time defending AldenLeague Champions are Sandridge Division Champions for the second straight year, with a Central Division Championship in 2007 making it a divisional threepeat. After fighting off a 4-game losing streak in the first half of the regular season, CheektoWojo rebounded to take 6 of the next 7, and with the help of the BountyHunters dropping 3 of their last 4, the team got exactly what it needed to get back to the post-season in grand style. CheektoWojo is tied with Most Murderous as the most successful franchises in the playoffs, where the teams sport identical 8-4 records. Team Profile: The Skyns The regular season was an uphill struggle for the Skyns in 2009, but their ascent into the playoffs is one of the great stories of the season. A 3-5 start led to a 5-6 stance with two weeks left, and a demanding list of help for playoff berth. The cards all fell in the...

Playoff Scenerios!

Image
No jokes, no frills, no funny pictures here (ok, well, maybe a funny picture). It took me 2 days to make, I'm not sure it's correct, but my eyes are falling out of my head and I can't possibly play with these numbers any more. To the best of my ability, I present you the Week 12 Playoff Scenerios! (note that these scenerios are figured from the beginning of Week 12 and do not include any results from this week's Thursday games). Also, the Week 13 matchup between the Boys of Summer and L.A. Ninjas is looking to be a huge, pivotal game with ramifications for many teams. This will be known as the Hartman Bowl for simplicity sake, because I'm going to reference it a lot. Also remember: the first tie-breaker is total points scored, EXCEPT in the case of determining a division champion. If two teams have identical records atop a division, the Division Champion tiebreaker goes like this: 1) Divisional record, 2) Head-to-Head record, 3) total points scored. CRITTENDEN ...

Week 11 Preview Because Hoskyns is Gay

Image
Our Weekly Preview man has been too busy sucking off his Brazilian boyfriend in the gay-friendly confines of Los Angeles to make any weekly previews over the past 2 months after agreeing to take the job, so here we are with The Commish's overview of things. It’s the final 3-week Divisional homestretch before the playoffs, and still, all things are possible. Co-league leaders Most Murderous and Ice Cold Bruschi’s (7-3) are only two games above 9 th place Boys of Summer (5-5). Meanwhile, Syn City, despite being at 2-8, still has a chance to win their division and finish with the #3 seed overall. Week 11 is the first divisional rematch week of the season, so let’s break it down: CRITTENDEN DIVISION Situation: As it stands, if the season ended today, the Crits would be sending 3 teams to the playoffs. Most Murderous and Ice Cold Bruschi’s are tied in a battle for not only division supremacy, but a #1 playoff seeding in the entire league. The Skyns are leading the 5-...

Halftime Show - Week 11 - An Interview with Erick Puzan, Owner of Most Murderous

Image
Recently I sat down with Erick Puzan, Owner of Most Murderous. Most Murderous is off to a fast start in the 2009 season, not an unexpected thing for the 2000 and 2005 AldenLeague Champion. A member of the founding Original Three, Puzan's AldenLeague exploits include a season played while based in Iraq during his time in the United States Marine Corps, a constant and physical threat in AldenLeague football games, and an undeniable presence on the league's message board. We met for the interview in the basement of a Mexican restaurant in South Buffalo, a dark place he seemed familiar with. He was polite but forcefully blunt, and often seemed on the verge of anger AL: So, what's been going on in your life these days? EP: A few things actually just bought a house working on trying to close on it, that has been a nightmare and a half but getting very close. Aside from that mostly just working, still at LG fixing TV's and appliances. Along with raising the baby (Lukas...

By: The Commish It's on! Gentlemen, we are witnessing an all-out smack-a-palooza! For those of you who haven't been on the message board lately, here's what's transpired: Most Murderous: I'm great. CheektoWojo: No, you aren't. Most Murderous: Yes I am. CheektoWojo: No, you really aren't Most Murderous: I cannot be beaten! BountyHunters: So like, because this is relevant and stuff...like....wow....so....my team's pretty good? Or something? Like soooo good? CheektoWojo: The only thing more appalling than your syntax is your grammar! Your subpar rhetoric causes my skin to become irritated. BountyHunters: Hey man, like chill out? You already lost all your hair, so all this negative aura ain't helping. Most Murderous: I hate non-whites and Dan. CheektoWojo: First off, allow me to instruct you in the proper use of the past perfect tense. When comparing two non-simultaneous events that occured prior to- BountyHunters: Guys? Guys? Like, can...

One-Fifth Season Awards By The Todd If you read enough articles and listen to enough radio about fantasy football, you're familiar with the tacky, once-a-year patterns that even the best columnists can't help but indulge in. In January there's the "resolutions" article begging players to do more, in November there's the "what I'm thankful for" spin-off, there's pre-season rankings and end-of-the-year "What we should have done" rankings. And, of course, the awards. There's always the awards article just after the season's finished, naming the NFC fantasy rookie of the year, the Bust of the year, and so on. And, because that's such a hoot for the readers, the concept has evolved to twice a year, with mid-season awards. Just in case you thought a "Comeback player of the year after 6 weeks" award by some new ESPN writer with no friends was going to provide you with some entertainment and insight. The truth is...

AldenLeague - Week 3 Preview

Image
Week 2 of AldenLeague saw a brotherly bludgeoning, a reversal of fortune, and a second straight Monday night letdown. CheektoWojo got 40 point performances from his duo of Chargers, Philip Rivers and Darren Sproles, en route to a 90.67 slaughtering of Fireseed, and a 2-0 record. Todd now last in the league in total points, clearly feeling the loss of Donovan McNabb. The Skyns, meanwhile, rebounded from posting the lowest Week 1 score by posting the highest Week 2 score…getting incredible days from Frank Gore and Andre Johnson. Andy’s Red Hots entered Monday night with the lead for the second straight week, and for the second straight week, ended up taking the loss. This time Joseph Addai burned Morrish, giving the Boys of Summer just enough to take the match and improve to 2-0. Also climbing to 2-0 were Ice Cold Bruschi’s and Most Murderous, both teams putting up impressive scores. This week, the Bruschi's put their 2-0 record on the line against Boys of Summer. In a matchup that f...

AldenLeague - Week 2 Preview

Image
Week 1 of AldenLeague had its share of ups and downs. Among the ups, the Boys of Summer, who disposed of his older brother, topping the league in scoring with every player except the Cardinals defense scoring in double digits. 1st overall pick Tom Brady lived up to his billing with an over 41 point outing. Brady, though, would play 2nd fiddle to number 2 overall pick Drew Brees for Ice Cold Bruschi’s, whose 61-point, 6 touchdown performance vaulted Dan to an easy Week 1 win. Among the downs…The Skyns failed to break 100 points after Jake Delhomme turned the ball over 5 times en route to a -5.8 output, and a Week 1 defeat. Andy’s Red Hots entered Monday night with the lead, despite posting just 101.48 points. However, in the end, too much Monday Night Football firepower for Cheektowojo proved to be Andy’s undoing. Andy will have to overcome league points leader Boys of Summer in order to avoid an 0-2 start. As of Thursday night, Justin has Larry Johnson slated to start against th...

Halftime Show - Week 2

Image
By The Todd Here's a list off the top of my head of things that we've learned historically after Week One: -Duce Staley is a dynamic back and worthy of a first round pick, if the Draft were held just before Week 2. -Buffalo was clearly a better team than New England after winning 31-0 in 2003. -Dan "Freight Train" Leonard was a rushing force to be reckoned with in the AldenLeague Thanksgiving Day Football Extravanza. -This year the Cardinals are obviously incapable of passing the ball. -New England's 2008 season was going to be a failure after Brady went down with a season-ending injury. -The XFL was going to be hugely popular. -Frisman Jackson, hot off a 128-yd, 1-TD game in Week 1, 2005 with the Browns, was immediately scooped up from free agency, and not one, not two, but THREE comments appeared on the message board lamenting the fact that people had not been fast enough to get him . -Corey was on pace to get laid more than once before he graduated from college...

AldenLeague Week 1 Preview

Image
The tenth season of AldenLeague kicks off with a full slate of divisional matchups that, although they may seem inconsequential at the moment, could be the ones that cost somebody a division title or playoff spot. Highlighting the opening weekend is the fraternal clash of the Hartman clan. The Boys of Summer take #1 overall pick Tom Brady into battle against older brother Michael and the L.A. Ninjas. The two brothers split the regular season series last season, and Mike beat Justin in the 3rd place game. Mike also leads the all-time series 3-1, postseason included. Rounding out the Westwood Division, C-Men take their aim at SynCity, also known as the "30-and-Over Club" 2-time defending champion Cheektowojo commences their bid for a 3-peat against Andy’s Red Hots. Adam has won 7 straight games, including the playoffs, and will look to his band of kick-returners to carry his team against Andy’s tandem of Packers, Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Grant and Donald Driver. Meanwhile, in the ot...
