AldenLeague - Week 2 Preview

Week 1 of AldenLeague had its share of ups and downs. Among the ups, the Boys of Summer, who disposed of his older brother, topping the league in scoring with every player except the Cardinals defense scoring in double digits. 1st overall pick Tom Brady lived up to his billing with an over 41 point outing. Brady, though, would play 2nd fiddle to number 2 overall pick Drew Brees for Ice Cold Bruschi’s, whose 61-point, 6 touchdown performance vaulted Dan to an easy Week 1 win.

Among the downs…The Skyns failed to break 100 points after Jake Delhomme turned the ball over 5 times en route to a -5.8 output, and a Week 1 defeat. Andy’s Red Hots entered Monday night with the lead, despite posting just 101.48 points. However, in the end, too much Monday Night Football firepower for Cheektowojo proved to be Andy’s undoing.

Andy will have to overcome league points leader Boys of Summer in order to avoid an 0-2 start. As of Thursday night, Justin has Larry Johnson slated to start against the Raiders, a team he’s torched in the past. The Ice Cold Bruschi’s will hope that the Eagles don’t make Drew Brees look like Jake Delhomme as they take on Los Petates Mexicanos. Delhomme, meanwhile, will sit Week 2 out after being suspended for being shitty as The Skyns go up against Adrian Peterson and C-Men.

Week 2 also gives us another brother vs. brother showdown, this one of the Wojnowski variety. After taking a pistol-whipping from Drew Brees, Fireseed will have to do without #1 QB Donovan McNabb. That inserts Matthew Stafford, making his home debut for the Lions, into the lineup. Cheektowojo has won 4 of the last 5 matchups against Fireseed.

This week’s game of the week features SynCity against Most Murderous, winner gets to start the season 2-0. Synrod shined in Week 1 thanks in large part to a 29 point effort from the Eagles defense. However, with the Eagles facing the Saints, don’t count on another 29 point week. Then again, I wouldn’t count on Bernard Berrian being held without a catch against the Lions either. Most Murderous, perhaps in an attempt to psych out his opponent…has not emptied a starting QB or RB spot, leaving everyone guessing who Puzan will take into this pivotal divisional bout.

Lastly, we know at least one team will go 0-2. Either Hillary Calrissian or the LA Ninjas will have to play catchup after this week. If Hank wants any shot at making the playoffs, something he's never done since he joind AldenLeague, he'll need his top 4 draft picks (Turner, Schaub, Palmer and Roddy White) to pick up the pace.
