FANTASY BOWL XI

It comes down to this! After a grueling 13 weeks of the Regular Season and another 2 of playoffs, Fantasy Bowl XI comes down to two: Fireseed and Ice Cold Bruschis. After battling their way through the season, we remain with a tie-breaking Crittenden Division grudge match for the right to be enshrined in AldenLeague history as the 2010 League Champion.

In Week 15, Fireseed blew past the BountyHunters in a lopsided affair due to a strong week paired with an injury-riddled BountyHunter collapse. This is the Crittenden Divison Champion's third Fantasy Bowl appearance, and first since 2003. The Ice Cold Bruschis took out the top-scoring team in the league, C-Men, by 17 points that could have been the result of a last-minute declaration of C-Men WR Malcom Floyd as inactive. Had the inactive label been announced earlier, there were a total of four free agent WRs that would've given Maras the edge had he picked them up. It was not meant to be so, as the more-vigilant Ice Cold Bruschis advance to their first-ever Fantasy Bowl instead, their first in their three year existence.
Let's break it down:

#2 Fireseed vs. #5 Ice Cold Bruschis
Season Series:
Tied, 1-1. Fireseed rolled to a 33-point victory in Week 4, and the Ice Cold Bruschis returned the favor in Week 12 with a 44-point win.
All-time Series: Fireseed leads 4-2 after sweeping the 2008 series and then splitting in both '09 and '10.
Last Playoff Meeting: None
Fantasy Bowl Experience: Fireseed: 0-2 ('00 loss to Puzan, '03 loss to Maras). ICB: First appearance.
Injury Report: Fireseed: QB Ben Roethlisberger aggravated his old foot injury last week, but will still play Thursday. WR Santonio Holmes missed some practice this week due to turf toe, but should be fine to play. ICB: RB Joseph Addai (as has been his trend) practiced this week, but no decision has been made as to his availability for this weekend's game - he has been out since Week 6. WR Chad Ochocinco has an ankle injury that is limiting him in practice, but there is no definitive word as to its severity. WR Mario Manningham has been somewhat limited in practice due to a heel injury, but appears to be in no danger of missing his game. WR DeSean Jackson's foot injury seems to be behind him. Both teams still have 2 ACQs available to them.
Key Matchups: Fireseed: QB Peyton Manning vs. 5th-ranked Oakland pass def. QB Ben Roethlisberger vs. 8th-ranked Carolina pass def. RB Steven Jackson vs. 7th-ranked San Francisco rush def. RB LeGarrette Blount vs. 21st-ranked Seattle rush def.
IBC: QB Matt Ryan vs. 4th-ranked New Orleans pass-def. RB Matt Forte vs. 4th-ranked NY Jets rush def. WR Mario Manningham vs. 3rd-ranked Green Bay pass def. WR Dwayne Bowe vs. 26th-ranked Tennessee pass def.
Key Questions: Does Indy WR Austin Collie's newest injury boost (Fireseed) Pierre Garcon's value enough to lift him into the Fireseed starting lineup? How could (Fireseed) WR Santonio Holmes be affected if Jets QB Mark Sanchez can't play due to injury (Mark Brunell would be the starter)? Fireseed's QBs vs. ICB's RBs: which set can overcome their tough matchups? Does (ICB) WR Mario Manningham build off of a big Week 15 performance, or does his roller coaster season continue?
Yahoo! Projection: Ice Cold Bruschis win, 144.24 - 133.96

Elsewhere in the league...

Consolation Bracket
-#1 C-Men take on #3 BountyHunters in the 3rd-place game, a nice cash bonus at stake for two of the top teams all season.
-Last week, Most Murderous pounded Andy's Red Hots, 189-126, securing 5th place. The Red Hots, who finish the season in 6th place, will be awarded the 7th pick in the 2011 Draft.

Consolation Bracket
Toilet Bowl:
#7 Stigs vs. #8 Boys of Summer. This is for the #1 overall draft pick in the 2011 Draft, as well as the rights to name 2010 12th-place finisher CheektoWojo for the first half of next season.
-#11 Tecmo All Stars take on #12 The Skyns in the battle for 9th place, with the winner being awarded the #3 draft pick next year.
-Last week, #9 Syn City defeated #10 CheektoWojo, earning the #5 overall 2011 draft pick for Syn City, and relegating CheektoWojo to the bottom spot in the league for this year. This means the winner of the 2010 Toilet Bowl will get the rights to name and design a helmet for CheektoWojo during the first half of the 2011 season.
