Final Week Playoff Scenarios

Well boys, it's official: This is the craziest season of AldenLeague in it's 11 year history. Some facts for you going into this final week:

Fact 1: 3 of the top 5 scoring teams enter the final week at 5-7 in 8th-10th places.

Fact 2: The combined record of the top 6 scoring teams is 37-35. The bottom 6 teams? 35-37.

Fact 3: The playoff fates for 8 teams is yet to be determined (we're not talking seeding, we're talking in-or-out).

Fact 4: The Sandridge Division could (and is likely to) end in a four-way tie at 6-7.

Fact 5: An 8-team tie for 3rd best record is possible... with all teams at 6-7.

Fact 6: The playoff scenarios were very complicated that we took the liberty of assuming that large point gaps (ie over 30) would not be overcome. You'll notice a few asterisks and some caveats... basically we are saying just use this as a general outline because a lot of craziness could still happen. This season we wouldn't expect anything less.

To start off, here is Synrod's simplified guide (with a bit of prognosticating) to the scenario breakdown:

"Any 6-6 team wins, they are in. Andy wins, he's in. Ice Cold Bruschi's wins, he has 50/50 shot. CheektoWojo wins he has 11% chance. For Skyns... more cowbell. Tecmo All-Stars...... where is Mike Hartman?"

2010 Week 13 Playoff Scenarios

C-Men 10-2, Current place: 1st, Points rank: 2nd, Clinched playoff berth, division crown and first-round bye
  • Corey will clinch the #1 seed with a win.
Fireseed 9-3, Current place: 2nd, Points rank: 7th, Clinched playoff berth, division crown and first-round bye
  • Todd can clinch the #1 seed with a win AND a C-Men loss AND a 115 point gain
BountyHunters 6-6, Current place: 3rd, Points rank: 9th
  • Hank can clinch the Sandridge Division and the #3 spot with a win OR a Stigs loss
  • Hank will most likely miss the playoffs with a loss and a Stigs win
Most Murderous 6-6, Current place: 4th, Points rank: 4th
  • Puzan is in the playoffs with a win
  • With a loss he needs 3 of 4 things to happen:
  1. Boys of Summer Loss
  2. SynCity Loss
  3. Ice Cold Bruschi's Loss
  4. CheektoWojo Loss OR maintain points lead
Boys of Summer 6-6, Current place: 5th, Points rank: 6th
  • Hartman is in with a Win
  • With a loss he needs 4 of 5:
  1. Most Murderous Loss AND gain 26 pts
  2. SynCity Loss
  3. Ice Cold Bruschi's Loss
  4. CheektoWojo Loss
  5. CheektoWojo Win AND gain 19 pts
Stigs 6-6, Current place: 6th, Points rank: 8th
  • Bizarro Synrod is in with a Win
  • With a loss he needs 5 of 6:
  1. Most Murderous Loss AND gain 36 pts
  2. Boys of Summer Loss AND gain 10 pts
  3. SynCity Loss
  4. Ice Cold Bruschi's Loss
  5. CheektoWojo Loss
  6. CheektoWojo Win AND gain 29 pts
SynCity 6-6, Current place: 7th, Points rank 10th
  • Synrod is in with a Win AND a loss by any 6-6 team
  • Synrod is most likely eliminated with a loss
Andy's Red Hots 5-7, Current place: 8th, Points rank: 1st
  • Andy is in with a win AND a loss by one 6-6 team (not including his opponent Stigs)
Ice Cold Bruschi's 5-7, Current place: 9th, Points rank: 3rd
  • Dan is in with a win AND 2 of 3:
  1. SynCity Loss
  2. Boys of Summer Loss
  3. Most Murderous Loss
CheektoWojo 5-7, Current place: 10th, Points rank: 5th
  • If Stigs wins the division, Adam needs a Win AND 2 of 4 below.
  • If BountyHunters wins the division, he needs a Win AND 3 of 4:
  1. Most Murderous Loss AND gain 9 points
  2. Boys of Summer Loss AND maintain 19pt lead
  3. SynCity Loss
  4. Ice Cold Bruschi's Loss OR gain 50 pts

Semi-Finals

In 2001, the second year of AldenLeague history, Adam Wojnowski entered the league as BaltoWojo, and won Fantasy Bowl II in his first season. In 2002, Corey Maras's C-Men were added to AldenLeague as an expansion team, and won Fantasy Bowl III. In 2004, Ben Metz joined AldenLeague as the Widgets, and made a run to Fantasy Bowl V, finishing as the runner-up. Moral of the story? Beginner's luck exists in AldenLeague!
