Week 2, 2011

What an opening week to the season! Week 1 saw 8 (8!) teams score over 140 points, with the Hartman Brothers each topping the 190-point mark, with Justin's Boys of Fall at 194.33 and Mike's L.A. Ninjas at 197.36. That's a fine welcome-back party to Mike, who took the 2010 season off to focus on school. Also a big welcome back to Steve Evans, who dropped 163.76 points in his first AldenLeague game since 2004. These boys are making up for lost time!
But it's far too early to celebrate or panic, as Week 1s tend to be unpredictable. There's still a long way to go, so let's examine what's coming in Week 2:

The Skyns (1-0) vs. C-Men (0-1)
Yahoo! Projection: The Skyns 148.12 - C-Men 131.73
Lifetime Head-to-Head Matchups: The Skyns leads, 8-7

The Skyns is looking to QBs Joe Flacco and Drew Brees to replicate last week's unbelievable numbers, while the C-Men have a RB decision to make between Green Bay's Ryan Grant and Cincinnati's Cedric Benson. Benson put up big numbers last week...on Corey's bench.

Most Murderous (1-0) vs. The Risen (0-1)
Yahoo! Projection: The Risen 155.72 - Most Murderous 119.99
Lifetime Head-to-Head Matchups: Puzan leads, 2-0
Chad Henne put up huge numbers vs. New England last Monday Night. Can The Risen's Philip Rivers do the same against the Pats this week? Meanwhile, Most Murderous's RBs put up a combined total of less than 17 points last week. That would worry anyone except Puzan, who hasn't had good fantasy RBs since...well...ever.

Stigs (1-0) vs. Syn City (0-1)
Yahoo! Projection: The Stigs 149.42 - Syn City 121.23
Lifetime Head-to-Head Matchups: Stiegler leads, 1-0
Brother Bowl, Round 2! Stigs got big points last week from unlikely sources, featuring RB Darren Sproles (29 pts), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (40 pts) and WR Stevie Johnson (15.5 pts). Synrod meanwhile benefited from Arian Foster's injury by riding RB Ben Tate for 20.5 points. He may, however, have to add a WR before gametime to fill in for the injured Marques Colston and Lee Evans.

CheektoWojo (0-1) vs. Ice Cold Bruschi's (0-1)
Yahoo! Projections: CheektoWojo 138.58 - I.C.B. 132.31
Lifetime Head-to-Head: Leonard leads, 2-1
If "Sam Bradford coming back from a finger injury against the suspect Giants's secondary" isn't intriguing enough for you, how does "Michael Vick at Atlanta" sound? All eyes will be on CheektoWojo's passers this week. Meanwhile, Leonard's 1st and 2nd round picks combined for a grand total of 22.26 points in Week 1. He'll be looking for Chris Johnson and Ben Roethlisberger to turn that around this week.

Boys of Fall (1-0) vs. Andy's Red Hots (1-0)
Yahoo! Projections: Boys of Fall 145.35 - Andy's Red Hots 143.63
Lifetime Head-to-Head: Tied, 5-5
Peyton Manning? Injured. Alex Smith? On the Red Hots' bench after a rough Week 1. Morrish is going to a 3-RB look to stay unbeaten. Justin, on the other hand, is going all-in on Cam Newton after his unbelievable debut. He'll face a stiffer test versus Green Bay, however.

L.A. Ninjas (1-0) vs. Fireseed (0-1)
Yahoo! Projections: Fireseed 150.47 - Ninjas 144.26
Lifetime Head-to-Head: Todd leads, 4-1
60 points from L.A.'s Tom Brady is huge, but not surprising. What is surprising is 31.5 from LeSean McCoy, 30.5 from Mark Sanchez, 20.5 from Beanie Wells, 20 from Brandon Marshall and 16 from Robert Meachem, all in the same week. It might be an impossible standard to keep up, but is proof that Mike's team can strike from a lot of different positions. Fireseed meanwhile leaned heavily on its silver-and-blue quarterbacks, and will be hoping for more of the same from Tony Romo and Matthew Stafford.
