Week 13 Preview

Week 13 means two things: The Regular Season is almost over and, by extension, a handful of teams are fighting for their playoff lives.

In perhaps the most anticipated Final Regular Season weeks in AldenLeague history here is how things breakdown:

Three teams have clinched playoff berths, Three teams have been eliminated.

Two divisional crowns remain up-for-grabs.

One team has clinched a bye, two teams will be playing each other for the right to the other.

Mathematically, six teams are still alive for only three remaining slots.

Coincidentally, the teams with nothing to play for this week are playing each other meaning that each of the other matchups are all the more important. (The people in the AldenLeague commissioner's office should pat themselves on the back for a genius scheduling plan.)

Anywho, the Matchup of the Week:

The Skyns (8-4) vs. C-Men (7-5)

The Skyns are on a five game winning streak (7 out of their last 8) and have the venerable touchdown machine L.T. at the helm.

Meanwhile, C-Men is currently in a streak of his own: the longest winning streak in AldenLeague this season with 6 straight. Coming back from the doldrums (an inauspicious 1-5 start) C-Men is now battling for the Mountain Division crown, the overall 2nd seed and the Bye Week that comes with it. The Skyns can do one better and clinch the Top Seed with a victory and some help.

Matchup of the Week, part deux:

Boys of Summer (6-6) vs. BountyHunters (6-6)

AND

SynCity (6-6) vs. KarateExplosion (4-8)

Which Pacific division team(s) will finish over .500? Will we see a need for the divisional record tiebreaker? Will any of these teams make a dent in the playoffs? The favorite in the group seems to be the resurgent Boys from Tallahasse... er, Buffalo. Laying down a 225 spot on the league last week surely gained some supporters but, alas, nothing is certain in the Pacific Division.

Rounding out the playoff picture is the matchup between L.A. Ninjas (5-7) vs. Fireseed (5-7). Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum to end up with the same record (Ninjas is currently 2nd in points, Fireseed 12th) both are hoping for a victory and some help although the road is much easier for the Ninjas. This week could (and should) mark the first time that Team Fireseed will be challenging for the Toilet Bowl from the consolation bracket.
